Here are the latest Alabama state and local election results from Action 8 News:

STATE AND LOCAL ELECTION RESULTS

Polls closed at 7PM. It typically takes several hours to count all of the ballots statewide. The Associated Press may announce a winner of a race depending on the results.

The top state and local races are:

U.S. House District 2: This redrawn district features Democratic candidate Shomari Figures vs. Republican Caroleene Dobson. The winner will replace Republican U.S. Rep. Barry Moore, who lives in Enterprise and was drawn out of the district.

U.S. House District 1: U.S. Rep. Barry Moore is now in this district and is the Republican nominee. He faces Democratic candidate Tom Holmes.

Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice: Current Chief Justice Tom Parker could not seek re-election due to a state law that sets an age limit of 70 for judges. Justice Sarah Stewart is the Republican nominee and is facing Democratic candidate, Montgomery Co. Circuit Judge Greg Griffin.

In an Alabama state school board race, Republican David Perry is challenging incumbent Democrat Tonya Smith Chestnut.

As for the local races, voters in Autauga County are deciding whether to raise taxes for schools.

In Montgomery County, District 4 Montgomery County Commissioner Isaiah Sankey is being challenged by independent Irva Reed.
