Inmate at Elmore Correctional Facility dies

An inmate at Elmore Correctional Facility in Wetumpka has died.

ADOC officials confirm to Action 8 News that 36-year-old Kerry Dale Presnell was found Wednesday around 10:40 p.m. “sitting in the shower behaving strangely.”

Life-saving measures were administered and Presnell was escorted to the Health Care Unit before he was taken to Prattville Medical Center for further treatment.

ADOC says at approximately 12:53 a.m., Presnell was pronounced at the hospital.

Presnell was serving a 20-year sentence for Theft of Property I out of Etowah County.
