Heavy Rain And Severe Storm Threat Tuesday!

A frontal boundary is making its way towards the state tonight. Heavy rain and t-storms are likely along and ahead of the boundary.  The rain will enter west Alabama late Monday night and advance eastward.  The Tuesday morning commute is looking very wet and we suggest you allow yourself some extra time.  Rainfall could be rather impressive with 2 to 3 inch rainfall totals possible.  There will be a severe storm threat accompanying this system. Some of the storms will be capable of producing damaging winds up to 60s mph.   The rain and storms linger into early Tuesday afternoon but most likely east of us by the drive home.

The big weather story will be the cold air arriving later this week.   A secondary cold front will usher in some very chilly air.  We’re expecting daytime highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s while overnight temps fall into the mid 30s.   The blast of cold will likely lead to areas of frost Friday and Saturday mornings.  You may want to check your heating source and have it ready to go!  It will be a mainly sunny and dry period but those overnight temps will probably take a little getting use to.
