Montgomery man charged in murder, assault
A Montgomery man has been charged with murder and assault, according to the Montgomery Police Department.
Police say 21-year-old Nicolas Harris was identified as the suspect in the November 16 death of 27-year-old Jimiah Bailey of Montgomery. He was taken into custody on November 18 and placed in
the Montgomery County Detention Facility under no bond.
Bailey’s body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy. His body was found in the 3000 block of Rosa L. Parks Avenue at around 7:11AM Saturday.
Police say the circumstances and cause of death were initially unknown. However, new evidence determined the cause of death to be caused by a gunshot wound.
Police say they also charged Harris with first-degree assault that happened on November 17, 2024, at about 11:35 a.m., in the 1300 block of South Holt Street.
Police say these are two separate investigations.
