Football fans talk to Action 8 News about their expectations for the Iron Bowl

The annual Iron Bowl is Saturday afternoon between Alabama and Auburn. This year’s game has fans on both sides a little nervous.

Alabama fans are thankful the game is in Tuscaloosa and not at Auburn, where strange things are known to happen, mostly to Auburn’s benefit. Alabama is coming off a shocking loss to Oklahoma, which knocked the Crimson Tide out of possibly playing for the SEC Championship. The Tide is hanging by a thread in making the 12-team College Football Playoffs.

Auburn has had a mostly disappointing season. But last week, the Tigers beat Texas A&M, which is the biggest win of the season. Defeating Alabama would be an even bigger victory and would make Auburn bowl-eligible.

Fans of both teams who talked to Action 8 News say they are hopeful but know a win isn’t a sure thing.

Kickoff of the Iron Bowl is at 2:30PM Saturday from Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game is being televised on ABC 32.
