Winter cold through the end of the holiday weekend into next week

Black Friday was a cold, winter-like day across central and south Alabama. High temperatures were only in the 50s, despite abundant sunshine for most of the day. Brisk north winds added a chill to the air. Winds die down a bit Friday night, but with a mainly clear sky, temperatures fall into the 20s in some locations overnight. A widespread freeze across south Alabama ends the growing season for our area.

Winter cold featuring well-below average temperatures continues this weekend. Temperatures only warm into the 50s Saturday despite abundant sunshine. Saturday night lows range from the upper 20s to low 30s. Sunday looks a touch milder, with highs closer to 60°. Sunday night lows fall into the upper 20s to low 30s again.

Another burst of cold air arrives early next week. High temperatures may only be in the low to mid 50s Monday and Tuesday despite a mainly sunny sky each day. Lows fall into the 20s Monday night, and at least low 30s Tuesday night. Temperatures trend milder towards the end of next week. However, clouds increase and chances for rain return Thursday into next weekend.
