City of Selma prepares for annual Christmas parade & celebration

The city of Selma is preparing for a big weekend of fun and festivities to celebrate the Christmas holiday season.

Lights and decorations are going up all around the Riverfront Park downtown.

Line up for the parade is at 3 PM — at the corner of Water Avenue and Washington Street.

The parade starts at 4 — followed by the Tree Lighting ceremony at Songs of Selma Park at 5.

The festivities at Riverfront Park — kick off at 5:30. Activities include a concert — ice skating — Polar Express train rides — and a fireworks show starting at 7.

“During this time of year I think it’s great that everyone can come down and you know, just be together and just have a good time,” said Selma Preservation & Development Coordinator Marlene Hunter.

The deadline to register for the Christmas parade is Thursday. December 5th.
