Suspect in Southside homecoming shooting behind bars

A Selma man is behind bars tonight — charged with murder.
Thirty-one year old Devin Walker is accused of shooting 32 year old Devante Hall back in October — at a tail-gating event following the Southside High School homecoming football game.
Sheriff Mike Granthum says Walker and Hall had a verbal argument earlier — that continued at the homecoming event.
Granthum says as Hall was trying to leave the event — Walker pulled out a gun — and opened fire.
“And he’s in jail right where he belongs. I mean to cold bloodedly murder somebody on school grounds of all places. A gun shouldn’t even have been brought there number one. That’s a crime in itself. And then to fire in a crowd like that, it’s just uncalled for,” said Granthum.
Walker is being held without bond in the Perry County Correctional Facility.
