Pike Road Town Council hears rezoning request for possible 55+ community

23pikeroadThe Pike Road Town Council took up a rezoning request Monday that could potentially bring a new neighborhood geared towards senior living.

The 100-acre land is located on Wallahatchie Road near Mockingbird Lane.

The developer is asking the town council to rezone the property from SmartCode to R-5.

Mayor Gordon Stone says while no formal presentation has been made yet, the preliminary documents illustrate the use for a 55+ community.

The council didn’t vote on the measure tonight as it was the first reading.

If approved, it’s not a done deal yet. The developer will still have to present the plan for the neighborhood to the planning commission for final approval.
