Two people killed in Lee County homicide; suspect arrested

23leecountyThe Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Christmas Eve shooting that left two people dead and one person in custody.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says around 3:48 p.m., deputies received a call regarding gunfire in the area of Lee Road 2113 and US 29 North in the Beulah community.

Deputies were later directed to a home in the 100 block of Lee Road 2113.

Upon their arrival, they encountered an 18-year-old male and discovered two females, ages 18 and 19 years old.

Sheriff Jones says the two females had gunshot wounds and were later pronounced dead on the scene.

Sheriff Jones also said despite living at the address where the shooting occurred, the victims were not related.

After further investigation, deputies discovered that the 18-year-old male had reportedly assaulted his mother, who lives next door to the home where the victims were discovered. The unidentified male suspect had taken a gun from his mother’s home and went next door to where the bodies of the victims were found.

The 18yearold male was arrested and charged with capital murder.
