Exactly one year ago, Nick Saban retired as Alabama’s head football coach. Since then, he has appeared on “College GameDay,” though his accomplishments haven’t been forgotten.
Today on the show, Saban learned he will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
“When did that happen?” Saban said in surprise. “I didn’t know anything about that.”
Following stops at Toledo, Michigan State, LSU and 17 years at Alabama, Saban finished his college football coaching career with 297 wins and seven national titles.
“Any time something like this happens, it’s because you had a lot of great people in your organization,” he said. ” I was happy to drive the bus, but we had some great people on it. Thank you so much.”
Saban will be inducted Dec. 9 in Las Vegas. He is the first honoree announced.
