Woman killed when car hit horse in Coosa County

A woman has been killed after the car she was riding in hit a horse in Coosa County.

Alabama State Troopers say 63-year-old Janice Bullard was a passenger in the car that hit a horse which was standing in the road. After the car hit the horse, it struck a large rock.

Investigators say Bullard was not using a seat belt and died at the scene.

The driver, 47-year-old Angela Lackey, and another passenger, 67-year-old Nina Lackey, both of Talladega, were both injured and taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.

The crash happened on U.S. 231, about eight miles south of Rockford, around 11:40PM Tuesday.
