Fatal accident in Butler County under investigation

A fatal accident in Butler County Monday has claimed the life of a Greenville man.

The accident occurred on North Mt. Zion Road between Hwy 10 and Co. Road 50 involving a propane gas truck and a passenger vehicle.

Deputies say the propane truck showed no signs of leakage.

55-year-old Vernon Harris was fatally injured when the car he was driving struck the gas truck. Harris was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
