Selma woman says food stamp funds stolen from EBT card
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
A Selma woman says someone has stolen her food stamps off her EBT card. And now she doesn’t know — how she’s going to feed her family.
Linda Watts says someone stole all of her food stamps off of her EBT card this month.
Watts says she takes care of three grandchildren — and she relies on the food stamps she gets — to help feed them.
She says it’s the second time she’s had food stamps stolen off her EBT card.
I had stamps taken from me in November of 2024. And I had stamps taken from me in January of 2025. January they took over $1100 dollars from me. I didn’t get a chance to spend a dime,” said Watts.
“You going grocery shopping, you get to the register and then they say insufficient funds. There’s no money on there.”
EBT clients are urged to carefully guard and protect their PIN number — and to never share it with anyone — to reduce the risk of theft.
