A single-vehicle crash involving a commercial vehicle closed a section of Interstate 85 southbound in Macon County for hours.

Alabama State Troopers say the wreck happened at about 4:05AM today.

The southbound lanes of Interstate 85 near the 38 mile marker are currently blocked and will be for an undetermined amount of time.

The commercial vehicle became totally engulfed in flames; the recovery may take an extended period of time.

As a result, a detour has been established at Exit 42-Wire Road on I-85.

Troopers are currently on scene investigating and will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly.

ALEA sent an announcement late this afternoon that the interstate has reopened.
