Mobile County teen named 2025 Distinguished Young Woman of Alabama
Alabama now has a new Distinguished Young Woman.
Shayla Holloway, the Distinguished Young Woman of Mobile County, has been named the 2025 Distinguished Young Woman of Alabama Saturday night at Frazer Church.
Holloway was one of 43 contestants vying for this year’s title.
As the winner, Holloway will receive $6,000 in scholarships and represent Alabama at Nationals in Mobile in the summer.
In addition to taking the top spot, Holloway took home preliminary awards in community service, fitness, self expression and interview.
The Mobile teen currently attends the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science. Holloway plans to attend Duke University to become a pediatrician.
This is the second straight year that a woman from Mobile County has taken home the title. Last year’s winner from that county, DeAsia Jones, currently attends the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
