Clanton house fire leaves two people dead, one injured

A house fire in Clanton has killed two people and left a third person injured.

Clanton police say the fire was reported at around 6:29 this morning at 1135 Duren Road. Police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

When they arrived, they found a single-family home was on fire, with three people inside. Only one of the people was able to get our safely. That person is receiving treatment and should recover, police say.

The names of those involved haven’t been released until family members can be notified. Police say they believe the fire was an accident, but an investigation is underway that involves the Alabama State Fire Marshal.
