CBS, other Paramount channels could be dropped from YouTubeTV
UPDATE: A new contract has been announced to keep CBS and the other Paramount channels on YouTubeTV. READ MORE HERE
Original Story:
We have an important programming note to bring you if you watch WAKA and CBS on the YouTubeTV streaming service.
Paramount, the company that owns CBS, is in contract negotiations to continue providing its channels on YouTubeTV.
As of right now, no deal has been reached.
What that means is as of 10 o’clock tonight (Friday, Feb. 14), YouTubeTV may drop CBS and other Paramount channels — like BET, Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central — from its lineup as negotiations continue.
WAKA and our owner, Bahakel Communications, are not involved in these talks, even though Action 8 is a CBS station.
If WAKA is removed from YouTubeTV temporarily, remember that you can watch Action 8 News on our other stations, like on ABC 32 and the CW Montgomery.
Unfortunately, that means you won’t be able to see Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy or other shows until this gets resolved.
This situation only affects YouTubeTV customers. If you watch WAKA on an antenna, through a cable company like Charter or WOW, or through a different streaming service, you won’t be affected.
Visit KeepCBS.com for the latest information and which channels could be affected.
We will keep you updated.
