A Cloudy & Wet Wednesday
We’re heading into a more active weather pattern with rain on the way and then we’re right back in the deep freeze for a few days. It is still winter and you will definitely notice it later this week.
In the meantime, clouds will thicken and rain will move into the area overnight. An area of low pressure will move along the northern gulf coast and help bring rain to the state. Rainfall potential of .25 to .50 for our area. The air will be cold enough for snow showers across North Alabama overnight into early Wednesday morning. Around an inch of snowfall is possible. There could be travel issues north of Birmingham, so keep that in mind if you’re heading that way. Around here the rain will taper off and should be mainly out of here by early Wednesday afternoon. We don’t see any severe storm activity accompanying this system.
We head into late week with much colder air returning to the state. Morning low temps will hover in the lower to mid 20s and highs only in the 40s. It will be a surge of Arctic air that settles over us for a few days. The colder air will gradually retreat over the weekend. We could be back in the 60s by Sunday and even 70s around the middle of next week.
