Montgomery police arrest attempted rape suspect

Montgomery police say a 15-year-old male suspected of attempted rape is now in custody.

The incident happened on Saturday, February 15, when a female victim walking near Corwin Drive and Capstone Drive was approached by an unknown male making sexual remarks towards her.

Investigators say the victim attempted to escape while trying to take a picture of the suspect. The suspect then chased her, hitting her in the head and pushing her to the ground. The suspect then began to expose himself and attempted to commit sexual acts on the victim.

The victim was able to escape and immediately called 911.

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers say an anonymous tip led them to a home on Thames Lane Wednesday night where the 15-year-old juvenile male was taken into custody without incident. Due to his age, the name of the suspect has not been released.

The suspect has been charged with Attempted Rape 1st Degree and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
