8 ON YOUR SIDE CONSUMER ALERT: Tesla is recalling more than 376,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a steering issue.

The problem is with the power steering assist.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the problem can happen when the power steering loses power when the vehicle stops and then tries to move again, making it hard to steer.

The recall affects some 2023 Tesla Model Y and Model 3 vehicles.

The NHTSA says Tesla has already released a free, over-the-air software update.

Owners will get a letter about the problem after March 25.
