Peppertree YMCA holds ribbon-cutting ceremony

The YMCA of Greater Montgomery is celebrating the ribbon cutting for its new Peppertree YMCA location.

The ribbon-cutting signifies the 11th membership branch and the YMCA’s 15th location overall in the greater Montgomery area.

The Peppertree YMCA on Halcyon Park Drive is near Vaughn Road. It was purchased from Jackson Hospital late last year and was once Metro Fitness.

The uniqueness is that this location is for adults only, and offers a diabetes prevention program for seniors. It has new innovative wellness offerings with Peloton bikes and compression massage chairs. In the next couple of months, it will add some outdoor fitness equipment.

“This facility has been in this community for 25 years, and we didn’t want it to lose that from Metro Fitness to Jackson to the Y. Now the Y has been here for 170 years and it’s not going anywhere, so we were excited to be able to take something that’s been here for 25 years and carry it for the next 25, 50, 75, 100,” YMCA Greater Montgomery President & CEO AJ Hernandez said.

Hernandez says that they are trying to make this location feel like a boutique-style gym.
