Six people are shot — when a man opens fire with an assault weapon — at crowded outdoor event this weekend in Dallas County.

Waka Dcsixshot0303 VoSheriff Mike Granthum says the shooting happened at a trail ride in the Sardis community Sunday night.
He says the shooter went and got a gun — and opened fire into the crowd — following a verbal argument.

“People just started to scatter out,” said shooting victim Jasmine Bell.

So, when I turned even more, it was a young man a little distance off holding an assault rifle. He started firing. I seen the firing when I tried to run, I got hit in my left breast. And I just fell on the ground.”

“We were able to recover 11 shell casings,” said Granthum.

“The shell casings are being processed. We have some witnesses that have started coming forward. And we hope to make an arrest on it very soon.”
