Top three finalists named for MPS superintendent position
The Montgomery County Board of Education has revealed its top three finalists for the superintendent position.
These are the finalists who made it to the next round:
- Dr. Constance Evelyn – Former Superintendent, Valley Stream 13 School District, NY
- Dr. Harold Wright – Deputy Superintendent of Achievement and Leadership, Crowley Independent School District, TX
- Dr. Zickeyous Byrd – Former Superintendent, Selma City Public Schools, AL
The next round of interviews will take place Monday, March 10 at the Montgomery Public Schools Leadership Center on South Union Street. MPS officials have not released the times at this time.
Members of the Montgomery County Board of Education interviewed six candidates Wednesday and Thursday before cutting the list down to three.
After the next round, the board says it will cut the finalists down to two.
The Montgomery County Board of Education hired a firm to conduct a nationwide search after former superintendent Dr. Melvin Brown resigned last year. Chief of Staff Jamie Wilson is currently serving as the interim superintendent until a new superintendent is named.
