Heavy Rain, Rising Waters Lead to Rescue in Prattville

Heavy rainfall over the weekend left twelve people trapped by rising water, leading to a rescue in Prattville.
According to Prattville Police department officials, the 12 campers had parked their vehicles on a sand bar at Pine Creek near Cooter’s Pond. Police say they arrived Saturday and spent the night as rains continued to cause the waters to rise, even submerging their vehicles.
By 10:00 Sunday morning, the heavy rains had flooded the creek, leaving the campers stranded on a small island.
Rescuers were able to reach the 5 adults and 7 children in about 15 minutes, using a rubber boat and get them to safety. No one was injured.
