Auburn basketball leaves for NCAA Tournament in Lexington

The Auburn Tigers departed for Lexington, Kentucky, Tuesday morning as they prepare to face Alabama State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Auburn, the tournament’s overall No. 1 seed, received a spirited sendoff from hundreds of fans in a reverse Tiger Walk. Supporters gathered at Neville Arena to cheer on the team and even sang “Happy Birthday” to coach Bruce Pearl, who turned 65.

Pearl and players signed autographs and posed for photographs before boarding the bus.

Adding to the celebration, Auburn star Johni Broome received AP First Team All-American honors Wednesday, alongside Alabama guard Mark Sears.

The Tigers will face the Hornets Thursday at 1:50 p.m. on CBS from Lexington.
