Severe storms capable of damaging wind, a few tornadoes Monday
Sunday was somewhat gloomy with a rather cloudy sky. Scattered showers and storms were in the mix throughout the day, but they fizzled away during the evening. Our area likely remains mainly dry for most of Sunday night. Another round of strong storms arrives early Monday morning. Storms may arrive in west Alabama as early as 4-6AM. Storms race east, departing our southeast counties soon after midday.
Damaging winds and a few tornadoes are the main hazards. Some sunshine may return to the sky by mid-afternoon Monday. Temperatures warm to near 80°. A few showers remain possible Monday evening as the cold front pushes through our area. Monday night turns cooler, with lows in the 50s. Tuesday looks dry and warm with sunshine. High temperatures range from the upper 70s to low 80s.
Isolated showers appear possible Wednesday through Friday. Temperatures may approach record territory, with highs near 90° Thursday and Friday. For now, it looks like rain coverage remains low Saturday, but showers and storms look more likely Sunday. The following week may trend quite a bit cooler, with high temperatures in the low to mid 70s through Wednesday.
