Eddie Robinson, Alabama State football prep for spring game
Coach Eddie Robinson enters his fourth season leading the Alabama State Hornets football program with three consecutive winning seasons and back-to-back second-place divisional finishes under his belt.
The Hornets were projected to win the SWAC East Division last season. But they suffered several season-ending injuries at the quarterback position. Senior Andrew Body was sidelined in the opening game, but Robinson says the quarterback is making progress in his recovery. He will be ready when the fall season begins.
“Kid has a great positive attitude towards it, especially when you had injuries two years in a row,” Robinson said. “We love the way he’s battling back from the mental aspect.”
Body has been participating in light throwing, while serving as a mentor to the team’s younger quarterbacks.
“We have some young quarterbacks, kids still out there, a couple transfer kids, some of them haven’t had a lot of passing experience in the game,” Robinson said. “Andrew is a guy that has done it for quite some time. And he’s always a great teammate and a great coach on the field, so he definitely helps out.”
The Hornets will host their annual Black and Gold Game this Saturday at ASU Stadium with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
