Victim in North Montgomery shooting in March dies
Montgomery police say a victim in a shooting last month has died.
The shooting happened around 7:21 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4 in the area of Alabama River Parkway at North Pass Road.
Once officers arrived, they found an adult male with a life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 20-year-old Terrion Austin, of Montgomery, died from his injuries three days later.
Action 8 News reached out to a spokesperson for the Montgomery Police Department regarding the delay in notification. The spokesperson released the following statement:
“We sincerely apologize for any delay in public notification and are taking immediate steps to ensure that such delays do not occur in the future. Our mission is to provide transparent and timely public safety information to all Montgomery citizens, and we are committed to upholding that standard moving forward.
The Montgomery Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has been working diligently on this case, carefully evaluating all evidence to ensure the successful prosecution of the individual responsible for this crime. After learning of the issue, Chief Graboys personally attempted to reach out to Mr. Austin’s family regarding his case.”
