The Alabama Department of Corrections has arrested two people for trespassing on state property.

ADOC says on Monday, April 7, the K-9 Team at Staton Correctional Facility was notified about three trespassers on the property at nearby Elmore Correctional Facility.

With the assistance of the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, they located three vehicles. The vehicles were then searched and two suspects were arrested. ADOC did not provide any additional information about the third person.

During the vehicle searches, ADOC says the officers recovered cell phones, narcotics, and a package wrapped in black tape.

The suspects, Jamie Gardner and Terrance Washington, were arrested and transported to the Elmore County Jail.

Gardner was charged with Criminal Trespass 3rd, Possession of Marijuana 2nd, and Resisting Arrest, and Washington had outstanding felony warrants.

ADOC says the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
