From the West Alabama Newsroom–
The historic St. James Hotel in downtown Selma — is set to reopen next week after a recent change in management.
It’s no longer a Hilton property — but the quality, beauty and owners of the property — remain the same.
“It opened up in 1837. And once you walk into the doors you feel that history of the hotel.,” said general manager Tongela Smith.
“It’s a beautiful property. You will feel the hospitality when you walk into the doors.”
Crews have been hard at work for several weeks now freshening up the appearance of the rooms and lobby area to make them more appealing to guests.
The hotel is set to reopen on May 1st — as an independent property.
A grand opening is set for June 1st.
That’s when the full service bar and the full service restaurant will go online.
