Prattville Police Help Take Back Prescription Drugs

Prescription drug abuse is a growing problem, and the Prattville Police Department has teamed up with area pharmacies to help combat the problem. September 26th is National Drug Take Back Day, and Prattville police officers were stationed outside of The Medicine Shoppe to collect any unused or expired medication.
“It’s a great event,” says Lt. David Fowler of the Prattville Drug Enforcement Unit. “We want everyone to come out and get rid of this medication that they don’t need laying around, so it don’t end up in kids hands.”
This is the 4th year prattville p-d has been involved in the project. All the medications turned in will be given to the Drug Enforcement Agency so they can be properly destroyed.
Police say about 30 pounds of medication were collected.
