Five UA Students Arrested on Hazing Charges

Five University of Alabama students were arrested Wednesday, after an investigation into hazing allegations involving Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

 

 

Colter K. Anderson, 21, of Dallas Texas; John Patrick Buckley, 21, of Houston Texas; Hunter Lee Wagner, 20, of Huntsville; and Richard E. Markwalter, 20, of Huntsville, each face three hazing charges, according to UAPD.  Mark Allen Powers, 20, of Athens, faces one hazing charge. Hazing is a Class C misdemeanor.
  
The suspects were booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail, with bond set at $1,000 each.
 
“The University of Alabama will not tolerate hazing and takes allegations and incidents of hazing very seriously,” said Dr. Tim Hebson, dean of students.  “Students who are the victims of, or who become aware of, hazing incidents are strongly encouraged to bring these incidents to our attention.”
 
University of Alabama officials say they are continung to investigate.
