ACTION 8 i-TEAM: Who shot and killed Joseph Goodwin in Selma?
ACTION 8 i-TEAM: The family of a man who was shot and killed in Selma in 2023 hopes you have a tip to bring the killer to justice.
23-year-old Joseph Goodwin was shot and killed in May 2023. Police say he was shot in the chest and burned in his car. He had worked as a welder before he was killed.
“Just a sweetheart,” his aunt Angela Goodwin told Action 8 News. “If you look at his, he still had a baby’s face.”

Investigators have pinpointed a suspect, identified as Deonte Olds, who is now 26 years old. They have been searching for him for nearly two years and believe he had been in the Atlanta area in the fall of 2023.
Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is offering a $5,000 reward that leads to the arrest.
“This guy is dangerous,” Tony Garrett of Central Alabama CrimeStoppers said. “He’s able to shoot someone and then burn him in his car. He needs to be taken off the streets, so hopefully, he’ll see this and turn himself in.”
Goodwin says it’s been hard on the family to go so long without any answers.
“Let’s all keep our fingers crossed and pray and ask God to give us the strength to get through this, even after he’s caught because it doesn’t just end, and bring him to justice,” she said.
