Lyons Wins District 2 City Council Race

Brantley Lyons won the District 2 City Council race. He received 1,204 votes over Ian Maloy’s 716 votes.

Lyons says he has some things he would like to tackle on the council as District 2’s representative.

“People have talked about education, reinforcing our watch groups, enforcing the ordinances, increasing patrols. There is a long laundry list, but I think their biggest concern lately has been crime because I’m a victim of crime. I was burglarized back in February of last year,” said Lyons.

Lyons says he also wants to bring District 2 together.

And he looks forward to working on ways for the people to meet up.

“We have Madison Park, Madison Gardens, Dalraida, Eastbrook, Johnstown– starting to kind of bridge the gap between those, so everybody gets to know each other as a community and not be divided up in different groups,” said Lyons.

Now that the race is over, Lyons says he is grateful for his supporters that helped him along the way.

“Thank you for coming out. It’s been a long race since May,” said Lyons.

Lyons will be sworn in with the other new council members November 10th.
