Montgomery Regional Airport says it will launch a $5 million renovation to its baggage claim area this summer.

It says the project will be funded through the Airport Terminal Program (ATP) grant and will bring a more modern, efficient and passenger-friendly environment for baggage retrieval.

Over the next 18 months, the airport says it will replace the existing baggage claim with two new, state-of-the art baggage systems designed to improve speed and reliability.

The upgrade will include:

  • Installation of two new modern baggage claim conveyor systems to enhance the baggage handling process and reduce wait times for arriving passengers
  • Creation of new car rental customer counters and offices to modernize the car rental experience
  • Additional terminal aesthetic and functional improvements to better welcome arriving passengers to the Montgomery Regional Airport

“This investment is a significant milestone for MGM,” said Loyd Jenkins, Montgomery Regional Airport Police Chief and Interim Airport Director. “Our goal is to continue improving the customer journey from arrival to  departure, and this baggage claim renovation is a vital part of that commitment.”

The airport offers daily flights via American Airlines and Delta Air Lines to Atlanta, Georgia; Charlotte, North  Carolina; Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; and Washington, D.C.
