Leigh Anne Touhy Blind Sides Selma Quarteback Club

From the West Alabama Newsroom– The Selma Quarterback Club gets blindsided by a special guest at its Ladies Night event.

Leigh Anne Touhy was the guest speaker at the event.

The inspirational hit-movie ‘The Blind Side’ tells the story of how Touhy and her family moved Michael Oher – a poor black teen — into their home and adopted him into their family.

The move gave Oher the stability and confidence he needed to excel in the classroom – and on the football field – and eventually – the NFL.

Touhy told the QB Club crowd that anyone can make a difference in someone’s life — and its important to value people.

“You know society valued Michael so incorrectly and I think really more than that is that there’s a message that certainly southern people need to hear more than anything is that you need to learn to love people that don’t look like you,” said Touhy.

The Selma Quarterback Club gives four $4000 dollar scholarships to local students-athletes every year.
