The United States Air Force is training pilots at an aviation program this summer at Craig Field Airport in Selma.

Waka Ahfa0721 SotvoThe Aim High Flight Academy is a scholarship program for high school students and rising college freshmen who are interested in aviation.

“We have the whole spectrum of interest in aviation here. Some of them are dead set on being Air Force pilots. Some of them want to be commercial civilian pilots,” said AHFA Mentor 2d Lt. Garrett Quante.

The program consists of three weeks of classroom ground training — and flight sessions.

“I figured that this might be a great way to jumpstart my career in aviation. And make some valuable connections that I will be able to use later in my life, said Elang Kathir.
