Man arrested on child sex-related charges in Alexander City

Alexander City police say a man has been arrested after he tried to meet what he thought was a 13-year-old girl for sex.

Alexander City Police Department Sgt. Drew Machen said 28-year-old Shaye Ellis of the Randolph County town of Wadley faces charges of traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act, electronic solicitation of a child, transmitting obscene material to a minor and resisting arrest. He is awaiting a bond hearing.

Machen said on Saturday, July 26, officers met with a group called “Predator Poachers” on Oak Street West. They met with the group’s founder and learned of Ellis and his alleged actions.
