More clouds, rounds of showers/storms, less heat early this week

Sunday’s weather was somewhat unusual for early August in our area. It looks like that remains the case early this week. More clouds, at least in east Alabama, plus scattered afternoon showers and storms held high temperatures in the 80s to low 90s Sunday. Showers and storms linger Sunday evening, but mostly come to an end overnight. The sky remains mostly cloudy, with lows in the low 70s.

Cloud-cover and high chances for rain keep the heat down early this week. Afternoon temperatures may only be in the 70s and 80s in most locations Monday afternoon, as waves of scattered showers and storms move across our area, with a mostly cloudy sky otherwise. Tuesday’s weather looks similar, though any rain-free locations that see sunshine could warm to near 90°. Rain chances remain high through Wednesday.

While rain chances may fall late this week, the the heat looks manageable for early August in our area. High temperatures should remain in the low 90s Thursday and Friday. Next weekend’s weather looks similar, with isolated to widely scattered showers and storms, and high temperatures in the low 90s. That sort of weather may persist for the first few days of the following week.
