Not much rain Sunday, higher rain chances early next week

Sunday was another pleasant day, at least for early August. While the day began with a deck of low clouds overhead in east Alabama, the sky was partly cloudy during the afternoon. Outside of a few brief, stray showers, our area was mainly dry during the afternoon. Despite sunshine and a lack of rain, high temperatures were only in the 80s in most locations, well below average for early August.

Saturday night looks partly cloudy and dry with lows in the low 70s. Sunday’s weather looks very similar to Saturday. The sky becomes partly cloudy during the afternoon, with a handful of spotty showers or storms and high temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s. Rain chances rise early next week, with scattered showers and storms Monday and Tuesday, mainly each afternoon.

Rain chances may fall a bit for the rest of next week, but definitely not to zero. Showers and storms remain at least widely scattered Wednesday through Friday afternoon. High temperatures remain in the low 90s each day. Next weekend’s weather looks similar. Expect widely scattered showers and storms Saturday and Sunday afternoon with high temperatures in the low 90s.
