Elmore man arrested on multiple charges following police chase
An Elmore man has been arrested in Millbrook following a police chase that ended in Montgomery.
Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson tells Action 8 News that on July 27, his officers received a complaint regarding the theft of lawn equipment that occurred in the area of Charleston Place.
After police received a credible description of the suspect, they were able to identify him as 27-year-old Robert Davis, Jr.
Detectives with the Millbrook Police Department issued warrants for his arrest on charges of Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle and 4th degree Theft of Property.
On Tuesday, officers located Davis traveling westbound on Highway 14. The officers attempted to pull him over, but a chase ensued.
The chase continues onto I-65 southbound and eventually ended up in Montgomery. Chief Johnson said speeds reached in excess of 100 miles per hour, at times, in attempt to elude officers.
Officers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery Police Department responded to the area to assist.
The vehicle chase ended behind several businesses on Mobile Highway. That’s when the suspect fled on foot into a wooden area.
The K-9 unit with the Montgomery Police Department was able to track down Davis and eventually take him into custody without incident of injury.
In addition to the two warrants, Davis has been charged with Felony Attempting to Elude and Reckless Endangerment.
Davis is currently in the Elmore County Jail.
