ACTION 8 UPDATE: The father who was charged with capital murder in the death of his baby son whose body was found in Lowndes County has pleaded guilty and has been sentenced.

Caleb Whisnand was sentenced to life in prison without parole earlier this week in the death of five-week-old Caleb Whisnand, Jr., in 2021.

According to court records, the baby died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Whisnand and the baby’s mother, Angela Gardner, reported the baby missing on May 10, 2021.  They claimed he’d been abducted from a car at a gas station on Wetumpka Highway.

They even held a news conference in Montgomery to plead for the public’s help in finding their son.

Two days later, investigators found the baby’s body buried in a remote area in Lowndes County.

As Action 8 News has reported, Whisnand had a history of arrests before his capital murder charge.
