Troy man arrested on drug trafficking charges

A Troy man is in custody on drug trafficking charges.

Troy Police Chief Danny Barron tells Action 8 News that his officers conducted a search warrant Monday in the 200 block of Griffin Street.

The search warrant resulted in the discovery of a large amount of illegal narcotics.

Officers arrested 33-year-old Austin Everson Rashad Howard. Howard has been charged with trafficking marijuana, trafficking cocaine, trafficking hydrocodone, trafficking oxycodone and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chief Barron said officers also confiscated a large amount of money and a firearm.

The operation was carried out by Troy’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) with the assistance of the Narcotics Division and Criminal Investigations Division.
