Montgomery Kiwanis Club announces plans for 2025 Alabama National Fair

The Montgomery Kiwanis Club has announced plans for the 71st Annual Alabama National Fair.

The club held its annual luncheon today to reveal details for the fair, which runs from October 3-13 at the fairgrounds at Garrett Coliseum. The fair is the biggest yearly fundraiser for the club, which donates hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to various local projects.

This year, the Kiwanis Club is working with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office to offer an incentive to third-grade students in Montgomery Public Schools. A third-grade student who has perfect attendance from the start of the school year until the fair opens will get a free ticket to the fair.

Thursday, October 2, the night before the fair opens, the fairgrounds will hold its Taste of the Fair event with $30 admission.

This year, the fair will have college football and NFL football games on large monitors at the outdoor stage to be shown on Saturdays and Sundays.

“It’s going to be a great fair,” Executive Director Randy Stephenson told Action 8 News. “We have a lot of new things coming in. We’ve got some different shows, our concerts, our cooking competition, our livestock competition, all of the things that are there. We’ve got a new War Memorial for our War on Terrorism, which will be on the Coliseum floor. It takes up a third of the floor, so lots of different things, and then we’re doing our hometown heroes the last weekend where all of our hometown heroes, first responders and military will get in free, then we’ll conclude with the Lee Greenwood concert.”

“Why do we do it? Because we’re able to give back to the community and over the 71 years that we’ve been doing this, we’ve given back over $10 million to the community to help charities, particularly those who help children in our community,” Montgomery Kiwanis Club President Billy Irvin said.

Once again this year, parking will be included with the admission price. Children ages 5 and under will be admitted free with a paid adult.

Action 8 News is sponsoring two days at this year’s fair. Tuesday, October 7, will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Admission will be $10 if you’re wearing pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Thursday, October 9, is Dollar Day, with $1 rides. It is also Senior Day from 9AM-1PM. Seniors ages 55+ can get in for $1 with the donation of a food item. That night features Brad Bradley & the Memphis Showband in concert at 7PM.
