The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce has named a new chief officer of economic development.

Caleb Goodwyn has been named to the position. In the role, Goodwyn will lead efforts for economic growth in Montgomery and the Central Alabama region.

“From recruiting and expanding industry in advanced manufacturing, logistics, corporate, technology and defense, to creating talent strategies and transformative infrastructure, the Montgomery Regional Chamber, alongside our public and private partners, is building a foundation for long-term competitiveness and growth,” Anna Buckalew, Chamber President and CEO said. “We have an incredibly strong team and proven track record in economic development. Caleb is the right fit to take our program to a new level of success and innovation.”

The top economic development position at the Montgomery Chamber stands on a legacy of leadership, following the decades-long direction of Ellen McNair, who was named Alabama Secretary of Commerce in 2023 by Gov. Kay Ivey.

“As the capital city with an impactful national defense footprint, Montgomery’s success is vital to our entire state. The outstanding reputation of the Chamber’s economic development team and its work is known around the southeast, and it is a tremendous honor to join this organization,” Goodwyn said.

Goodwyn previously served in various economic development capacities with PowerSouth Energy, where he led infrastructure development, project locations and expansions, site readiness, economic development finance structures and community development initiatives. Before that, he worked in constituent and community affairs for U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus in the Birmingham area.
