Elmore County woman arrested for promoting prison contraband

An Elmore County woman has been arrested for promoting prison contraband.

The Alabama Department of Corrections tells Action 8 News that on Thursday, along with the help of the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, executed a search warrant at the home of Gwendolyn Reese on Lucky Town Loop.

Reese was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. She is charged with trafficking and 1st degree promoting prison contraband.

ADOC officials say the arrest stemmed from an incident in Jefferson County where Reese attempted to introduce contraband into the Donaldson Correction Facility.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending out of Elmore County.
