A correctional officer with the Alabama Department of Corrections has been arrested on drug charges.

ADOC officials say Correctional Officer Senior Joshua Joyner was arrested Friday in Auburn following a traffic stop.

During a search of his vehicle, approximately two pounds of marijuana was discovered.

ADOC narcotics agents arrived to assist the Auburn Police Department.

Agents then executed a search warrant at Joyner’s home in Montgomery. During the search, agents recovered approximately 4 more pounds of marijuana.

ADOC says Joyner was an officer at Kilby Correction Facility, but has resigned from his position.

He was taken into custody and placed in the Lee County Jail on a 1st degree possession of marijuana charge.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending for Montgomery County.
