Marion shooting leaves young man dead, community in mourning

A shooting in Marion leaves one man dead — another man behind bars — and a community in mourning.
Twenty one year old Jayden Tubbs of Marion was shot and killed late Saturday night.
His death is the city’s first homicide of 2025.
“Jayden Tubbs was real bright young man, really smart. Everyone in the community knew him. He was a 3-sport athlete in high school. And unfortunately he died as a result of a firearm,” said DA Robert Turner, Jr.
“The suspect turned himself in immediately after the shooting occurred and he has been questioned. We do expect, based upon the information that has been gathered thus far there will be murder charges forthcoming.”
The suspect is being held in the Perry County Jail — and the case remains under investigation.
