CrimeStoppers Gun Buyback Collects Firearms, Offers Cash Incentives
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — Dozens of people exchanged unwanted firearms for cash Saturday at a gun buyback event in Montgomery.
CrimeStoppers 215-STOP partnered with the city of Montgomery and the Montgomery Police Department to give residents a safe way to dispose of guns. Participants received money based on the type of firearm they turned in.
Organizers said the program helps keep neighborhoods safer by reducing the number of unused guns in circulation and preventing them from being used in crimes.
CrimeStoppers has collected more than 200 firearms in its previous two buyback events.
